Synopsis
After a beloved student dies under suspicious circumstances, library director Jazz is convinced it wasn’t suicide—and turns to campus police officer Cappy for help. Cappy’s not so sure, but as they dig deeper into the case (and into each other’s lives), the mystery gets more tangled, and so do their feelings. A cozy sapphic campus mystery with emotional depth and slow-burn romance.
My Thoughts 💭
🔍 Why I Picked This Up:
I was really intrigued by the cozy sapphic murder mystery premise! The academic setting and amateur sleuth dynamic sounded like a fun twist on the genre. 🔎 Thank you so much to the author, Bold Strokes Books, Inc. and NetGalley for providing a free eARC in exchange for an honest review!
✨ What I Loved:
I really wanted to love this and was hopeful going in, especially with the mystery and sapphic romance. The concept had promise.
✍️ Room for Improvement:
Unfortunately, I had to DNF this one at 27%. The biggest issue for me was that I couldn’t connect with the characters at all—I didn’t feel invested in them or their relationships. On top of that, a few moments in the plot felt a bit unbelievable. That normally wouldn’t bother me too much, but when combined with feeling bored and detached, it just didn’t work out.
🥉 Overall Takeaway:
This one wasn’t for me, but it might still work for readers who enjoy cozy, slow-paced mysteries and don’t mind a more distanced narrative. Just be prepared for a slower start and characters that might not grab you right away.
