My ThoughtsĀ šŸ’

šŸ” Why I Picked This Up:

I was drawn in by the mix of paranormal thriller and deep character work. Plus, I’m a sucker for a sapphic story! Thank you so much to Will Hoffman, Guernsey Fair Press, and NetGalley for providing a free eARC in exchange for an honest review!

✨ What I Loved:

This debut really impressed me! I didn’t want to put it down. The character development was a huge highlight—flawed, real characters with genuine growth. The author wasn’t afraid to show the main character’s sub-optimal behaviors and let her grow without judgment. I also loved how everything eventually tied together, I appreciate how the author is able to tell a cohesive story with encapsulating so many events. Even when I thought it was too much, it all made sense by the end. The romance was subtle, and I liked that it wasn’t the story’s main focus. šŸ•Æļø

āœļø Room for Improvement:

The pacing was a bit off at the start—slow in the beginning, then suddenly packed with action. And sometimes, the use of phrases like ā€œthe girlā€ or ā€œthe womanā€ instead of character names felt impersonal.

🄈 Overall Takeaway:

If you love paranormal thrillers with complex characters and a plot that keeps you captivated, EtherĀ is worth picking up! It’s a debut, so a little rough around the edges, but totally engrossing and memorable. I’m definitely keeping an eye out for what Will Hoffman writes next! šŸ—’ļø

šŸ’” Additions:

  • Mood Board: Mysterious foggy woods, flickering lights, haunted buildings.
