My ThoughtsĀ š
š Why I Picked This Up:
I was drawn in by the mix of paranormal thriller and deep character work. Plus, Iām a sucker for a sapphic story! Thank you so much to Will Hoffman, Guernsey Fair Press, and NetGalley for providing a free eARC in exchange for an honest review!
⨠What I Loved:
This debut really impressed me! I didnāt want to put it down. The character development was a huge highlightāflawed, real characters with genuine growth. The author wasnāt afraid to show the main characterās sub-optimal behaviors and let her grow without judgment. I also loved how everything eventually tied together, I appreciate how the author is able to tell a cohesive story with encapsulating so many events. Even when I thought it was too much, it all made sense by the end. The romance was subtle, and I liked that it wasnāt the storyās main focus. šÆļø
āļø Room for Improvement:
The pacing was a bit off at the startāslow in the beginning, then suddenly packed with action. And sometimes, the use of phrases like āthe girlā or āthe womanā instead of character names felt impersonal.
š„ Overall Takeaway:
If you love paranormal thrillers with complex characters and a plot that keeps you captivated, EtherĀ is worth picking up! Itās a debut, so a little rough around the edges, but totally engrossing and memorable. Iām definitely keeping an eye out for what Will Hoffman writes next! šļø
š” Additions:
Mood Board: Mysterious foggy woods, flickering lights, haunted buildings.
