Synopsis

Darcy Keller, Fableview’s fall-loving town sweetheart, is counting down the days until college, even if her parents want her to stay and inherit their Halloween empire. Meanwhile, Anya Doyle, a brooding almost-witch new to town, needs a mortal ā€œprotectorā€ to join her coven. Naturally, she panics and lies, telling them her crush, Darcy, is on board. They team up to tackle their own problems, spending the season side by side at parades, parties, and pumpkin patches. But with Anya’s magic on the line and Darcy’s future hanging in the balance, catching feelings is the one thing neither of them planned for.

My ThoughtsĀ šŸ’

šŸ” Why I Picked This Up:

I love a sapphic romance and wanted to pick up a fall-themed one. šŸŽƒ I was also drawn to the cover because of how cute it is!

A huge thank you to Bridget Morrissey, Delacorte Romance, and NetGalley for providing a free eARC in exchange for an honest review!

✨ What I Loved:

This book was fantastic. It had all the elements of a perfect YA romance. It was so cute, very funny, and made me a little emotional. 🄹

The characters in this book are so cute. They’re are all really well done; I cared about them and really wanted everything to work out. They were also quite funny. Anya especially is so funny, I laughed out loud so many times while reading this. šŸ“–

The plot is very good. It did start out a little slow but it picked up pretty quickly, and I ended up not being able to put the book down. And I have to mention: the town is so cute and makes me want to live there! šŸ

āœļø Room for Improvement:

I don’t have much criticism for this book. The only thing for me was that it started off a bit slow—only the first ten percent or so—but a lot of romances do, in my opinion, so I really didn’t mind.

šŸ„‡ Overall Takeaway:

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a non-spicy cozy sapphic witch romance! 🧹

šŸ’” From The Margins:

  • Mood Board: šŸŽĀ Apple bobbing contests, cobblestone street, shops dressed for Halloween šŸŽƒ, ferris wheel rides šŸŽ”, painting witchy landscapes šŸŽØ

  • Favorite Quotes:

ā€œSense is the enemy of wonder.ā€

ā€œMy queerness makes me who I am, affects every single thing I do, but at the same time, it’s only mine to fully know. And I like it that way.ā€
